MEDIC hosted a series of Virtual Grand Rounds and Town Hall Conference Calls to provide a forum for EDs across our state to share challenges and successes so we can learn from each other and to leave this meeting with ideas and strategies useful to your local COVID-19 work.
Grand Rounds featuring emergency medicine faculty from Spectrum Health Lakeland, Hurley Medical Center, Beaumont Health Royal Oak, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor, and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Each speaker provides a brief discussion of how they are planning for emergency medicine operations moving forward with COVID-19, and how they are using lessons learned from the pandemic peak at their facilities.

This virtual town hall features ED team members from sites across Michigan sharing what they, their colleagues, departments, hospitals, and communities are doing to help ensure that those who care for the community’s health are cared for in return.

During the third MEDIC virtual town hall, 30+ attendees representing ~19 different EDs, hospitals, and health systems met to discuss some special considerations for ED providers caring for the pediatric population during the COVID-19 pandemic. Key topics discussed included criteria for testing children for COVID-19, PPE standards for pediatric patients, visitor policies, and management of treatments considered to be aerosolizing.

30+ participants from 12+ EDs across Michigan came together virtually on 3.24.2020 for the second town hall in the MEDIC COVID-19 town hall series. Participants discussed their level of concern regarding supply of personal protection equipment (PPE) in the ED, and shared innovative and practical approaches their EDs and health systems are taking to conserving PPE while staying safe in the ED.

On 3.19.2020 the MEDIC Coordinating Center hosted the first in a series of virtual town halls focused on the current state of ED operations vis-a-vis COVID-19 throughout our MEDIC community of EDs and hospital systems across the state of Michigan. Participants included physicians and nurses actively caring for patients in the ED, hospital administrators, and quality improvement staff who are being redeployed to support other areas of clinical care during this time. Participants shared live updates on their facility approaches to patient care and ED operations.
