General Inquiries

To participate in MEDIC, a hospital must meet the following criteria:


  • Operate an emergency department (ED), seeing both adult and pediatric patients
  • Have 24-hour physician coverage
  • Have on-site laboratory and radiologic imaging capabilities
  • Have a quality improvement structure and process
  • Commit to active participation in collaborative quality improvement activities
  • Commit to use of a standard patient registry
  • Identify an emergency physician Clinical Champion to lead participation in collaborative quality improvement efforts
  • Provide personnel to submit data in a timely manner as agreed to by consortium members
  • Collaborate with other participating sites, including sharing and learning from best practices
