Opioid Use Disorder

Opioid Use Disorder

The goal of the Michigan Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network (Michigan OPEN) and MEDIC project is to reduce opioid related morbidity and mortality by:

  • Increasing emergency department naloxone distribution to patients treated for opioid overdose and those at high risk of future overdose
  • Facilitating hospital and community inter-professional provider networks to develop best practices for emergency department-based opioid use disorder screening, naloxone distribution, and initiation of medication-assisted treatment
